Get to know me!
Hi! My name is Mila Plavsic, and I am a 19-year old ski racer from British Columbia. I am from Vancouver, BC, and I grew up racing with the Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club since I was 5 years old. I am going into my 5th year of FIS, and I am just coming out of two years with the BC Women's Team. As of right now, I am living in Invermere, BC, and I will be skiing with the Windermere Valley Ski Club this season.
Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for ski racing. I have always loved competition, and none of the other activities I did growing up quite matched my love for skiing. I learned to enjoy the early wake-ups and rainy days that Grouse Mountain provides, and the socializing was always a blast. As I went through the age groups and the competition got stronger, I was only getting more determined to prove myself. Though at times the pressure of racing becomes a lot, my time in FIS has given me the chance to find the fun in the grind.
Following my second season in FIS, I was named to the BC Women's Training Group. It is an honour to have been a part of the rebuilding of the women's team, and it was an experience I have always dreamt of. Having a group of girls to consistently push me was something I had been lacking in the few years prior, and it taught me a lot about myself. Through the BC team, I was able to navigate many internal challenges and grow a lot as a person. I had some of my biggest ups and downs in the two years on the team, and I couldn't have asked for a better group of teammates to support me through it. Ultimately, I parted ways with the team at the end of the 2023/24 season, and I am now a member of the Windermere Valley Ski Club! In the next season, I am hoping to take some pressure away from my results, and continue to search for the passion and enjoyment I have always had for the sport.
Although the end of the last season has been a rollercoaster, I am confident in the decisions that have brought me here. It'll be a change living away from home, but I have a lovely group of people keeping me company. Our summer training has been a lot of fun, and our dryland block leading into the season brings me a lot of confidence for our Panorama pre-season training. I'm looking forward to seeing what this season has in store for me. See y'all on the slopes!!!
